Re: Delta Flight Attendants Election Results
Today, February 1, 2002, the National Mediation Board (NMB) tallied
ballots cast in the representation election to determine if the
Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) will become the collective
bargaining representative for more than 19,000 flight attendants at Delta
Airlines. The NMB's tally of the ballots was as follows:
Number of eligible
voters: |
19,033 |
Void Ballots: |
36 |
Votes Cast for the AFA: |
5,520 |
Votes Cast for Other: |
89 |
Valid Votes Counted: |
5,609 |
On August 29, 2001, the AFA filed to represent the flight attendants at
Delta Airlines. These employees were previously unrepresented. Based upon
the determination that fewer than majority of eligible employees cast
valid ballots in the election, the NMB will formally dismiss the
application on Monday, February 4, 2002. Based on these results, the NMB
will continue to investigate the AFA's pre-balloting allegations of
interference by Delta.
For general information about NMB representation procedures, see the
NMB Representation Manual and the questions and answers about
Representation. These are also found on the NMB web site, www.nmb.gov
